Capturing the birds – My personal project for the year

As many of you would have seen recently on my social media feeds, I have a real interest in wildlife photography, particularly garden birds. I am very lucky in my work as a wedding and cricket photographer that I own some perfect kit for photographing these little feathered characters which certainly makes my life easier when trying to get in close to capture them in their natural environment.

As my wedding and cricket season kicks off in full next weekend, my time spent capturing images like this will pretty much disappear, but I still plan to get out with my camera when I can.

These images were captured on one of my Nikon bodies with a Nikon 70-200mm lens. I  also own a Nikon 400mm (my cricket lens!), which is perfect for getting in nice and close, and I plan to use this lens a lot more over the coming year. The majority were captured in my front garden, with the rest taken at the wonderful Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust in Arundel
