A spring wedding at Broyle Place

The wedding of Amy and Steve was my first of three April weddings in 2016. They chose the beautiful Broyle place as their venue, a Grade II listed Elizabethan manor house situated deep in the Sussex Countryside.

It was my first visit to Broyle Place and after arriving early to capture some of the beautiful details around the house and grounds, I popped inside to capture Amy and her Bridesmaids getting ready. Steve arrive with his boys  later on in the morning and after a few portraits we were ready for their outdoor ceremony to begin.

The weather had been changeable for most of the week but we had beautiful blue skies and sunshine as Amy and Steve said their vows outside in the pretty Boat House. After walking down the aisle as husband and wife, the guests (and Amy!) were treated to a surprise bird of prey demonstration, which was great fun and enjoyed by all.

As the skies started to turn grey, we just managed to have time to capture some couple portraits, as well as photos with their lovely dog Patch, who even had a bow tie for the occasion! I then popped into the marquee to capture the details of the pretty woodland theme Amy and Steve had chosen, with beautiful tree centerpieces, lots of moss and woodland creatures. Even their cake had a woodland theme with the cutest little toppers featuring themselves and Patch.

Just as the guests were seated in the marquee for the reception the heavens opened and stayed like this for the rest of the day. This did not dampen any spirits though and after a lovely first dance we headed outside for some fun photos in the rain. I then left Amy and Steve and their guests to enjoy pizza served from a horsebox and to dance the night away!
